As a traveling salesman, I do a lot of client entertaining and a lot of presentations over a meal. I’m constantly searching for great local restaurants that offer great food, great ambiance & energy and a private room for group presentations. However in my search I’m also constantly looking for AWESOME DIVE BARS!
Dive Bars – A dive bar doesn’t have to be grungy or dirty. I define a dive bar as a local watering hole where patrons are the average everyday Joe and Jane. The bartenders usually have great personalities and can provide honest insight into the local community.
Group Presentations – my group presentations typically range in the size of 10 to 50 attendees. I’ve found that franchise restaurants have these spaces already built in, but my quest is to find local restaurants that can accommodate these large groups.
My requirements not only include a room large enough to fit my group size but must also:
- Have an Audio/Visual (A/V) system – I prefer a screen that I can plug my laptop into or an a/v system such as a screen and projector that I can use to display my presentation. The old screen and projector system is a bit cumbersome and can take up valuable real estate in the private room.
- Food – Menu is also very important, in searching for a group venue, I look for a restaurant with banquet options that offer a 3-course meal which includes a starter (typically a salad), an entree choice (typically a beef option, a fish option and a chicken option) and a dessert (typically cheesecake or something that can appeal to the masses).
